It takes a community – join ours.

Volunteers make every ride possible. Whether you’ve worked with horses for years or you’re brand new, there’s a place for you at RDAV.

Why volunteer with RDAV?

Every week, more than 1,200 volunteers across Victoria help people grow in confidence, strength and independence through equine-assisted activities.

You don’t need horse experience – just a warm heart, willingness to learn and desire to support others.

Volunteering with RDAV is a chance to be part of a community, make a real difference and share joyful moments with riders and horses alike.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need horse experience?

No – most volunteers join with no prior experience.

Your centre will provide all necessary training, including horse handling and supporting riders.

Centres typically run sessions once or twice a week. Volunteers often help for a few hours per session.

That’s completely okay. Many volunteers start on the ground or in support roles.

Some centres accept volunteers aged 12-14 with supervision.

Not able to volunteer right now?

Your support still makes a difference – helping care for horses, train volunteers and open more riding places.
